Introduction of Sabimaru Hall
The word “Sabi” refers both to the name of an ancient capital of Baekje and today’s Buyeo, while “maru” is a pure Korean word that can mean “the top”, “the best”, “the highest place”, or “the summit”. It also refers to a comfortable, open space like a maru (wooden floor) in a traditional hanok. Buyeo National Museum’s Subimaru Hall is a two-story building plus basement with a total area of 1,830㎡. Construction work on this multi-purpose cultural facility began in June 2009. The Hall stages a variety of performances - including stage plays, musicals, classical music concerts, and gugak recitals (traditional Korean music) - related to traditional culture and the arts for children, youth, families, and the general public. The hall has 425 comfortable seats (including 6 for persons with disabilities) and is equipped with top-notch sound, lighting, and ancillary facilities. Audiences can enjoy various cultural and art performances conveyed to them via ultramodern facilities. Facility Information
